George Elezi is a photographer and a visual artist who specialises in creative images of the living world

Born in Oyo State in Nigeria, he fell in love with photography many years ago when he first saw the famous Sigmund Freud’s “Whats on a man’s mind” imagery. Intrigued and provoked, George was mesmerised by its artistry. He started as a budding photo critic who later became a photographer for he wanted people to critic his own image

George moved to South Africa in the early 2000, after graduating from an Honours degree in Philosophy at Ibadan University. After several years of working in different industries such as information technology, FMCG and Health & wellness, he decided it was time to make his lifelong dream become a reality.

George thereafter studied at the College of Digital Photography and soon after had the opportunity to work as an assistant to the renowned photographer Xavier Saer – famous in fashion photography and editorials. George assisted him in many corporate projects at First National Bank, Land Rover and worked with publicists & stars such as iFani, Phuthi Khomo and he did many portfolios for models.

George ventured into his own business Phokus (pronounced “Focus’) Media Productions (PMP). The company specialises in editorial, portraits, product, fashion, events and weddings photography. His style of photography includes the continuous communication & engagement with clients – a two way street of interactive shooting to get the best imagery. He is currently the resident photographer for fashion & lifestyle power house Afrokulcha and has had many opportunities to work with giant companies such as Adcock Ingram.

George is a humble tenacious photographer who is a diligent artist. His work speaks for itself.
